Soothing Minds is a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service provider that recognises the important role of families and carers which is essential in supporting people with disability, as well as the importance of people with a disability gaining access to vital support and services. The NDIS will ensure that people with a disability are given every opportunity to make their own decisions and exercise choice and control. The Scheme recognises that families and carers need support.
Whilst the Scheme is being progressively rolled out across South Australia, it is vitally important that carers have access to counselling services and support. If you are not able to access NDIS services, you may be able to access some support through Carers SA.
If you are a person with a disability or a carer and want to join the NDIS, you do need to meet certain access requirements. These include whether the Scheme is available in the area you live; your age; your residency status; your disability and in some cases your early intervention requirements. Once these are met you can become a participant in the scheme and if you are eligible. The NDIS works with you and helps you to develop your individualised plan. You can receive assistance through the planning process.
Check to see if you are eligible for individual support within the NDIS.
If you need further information or a referral you can contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) directly
