Soothing Minds is a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service provider that recognises the important role of families and carers which is essential in supporting people with disability. Families and carers provide help and support that cannot be provided by formal services or paid support workers. The NDIS will ensure that people with a disability are given every opportunity to make their own decisions and exercise choice and control. The Scheme also recognises that families and carers also need support. Therefore, one of the core aims of the National Disability Insurance Scheme is to better support you in your caring role.
Whilst the Scheme is being progressively rolled out across South Australia, it is vitally important that carers have access to counselling services and support. This will be completed by developing individualised and personal support plans whereby the circumstances of families and carers are taken into account as well as the person with the disability.
